Initial Concept
From the first day of class, NY Design Safari an elective at Parsons School of Design, we were instructed to choose groups to work on an ongoing project to document each location we visited in a medium of our choosing.
Not only did this mean that we had to plan and work as we went, but I also picked a partner that I just met. Our working styles were completely different, but adapting and being communicative was key to making progress each week.
Collaboration
While I took pictures of each place, she thought of a fun activity that I would then design into our book. Each were uniquely fitted to the location and we worked hard to have it truly reflect what we learned.
For example, the GUMBO Collective were a coworking group of game designers so we designed an 'Exquisite Corpse' game so readers could collaborate, too!
Conclusion
We presented our finished book at our end-of-year showcase along with additional pictures taken at each spot and activity sheets!
We got great response as some visitors were people from each place so they could see their organization reflected as one of our activities.
Not only was I proud of our outcome, but it made me more confident to work with people different than me. My partner and I worked in complete opposite ways, but understanding and accepting this from the beginning and playing into each of our strengths turned out to be the key to our success.

Outside of graphic design, she loves to take photos with her Fujifilm or her dad's Canon DSLRs. She has also recently been into mixing songs on Spotify and will take song requests to make you a playlist.
